The Argyll Sea Kayak Trail is a must for sea kayakers as it provides some of the best sea kayaking in Scotland if not the UK.
The Trail is 150km long and stretches from Helensburgh to Ganavan just north of Oban and takes in the superb scenery of the Clyde and its sea lochs, islands off the west coast and coastal hills and mountains.
The area is rich in wildlife such as sea birds, dolphins, porpoises, whales and sea eagles to name but a few, very diverse in terms of shorelines with sandy, shingle and rocky beaches and an exciting mix of sheltered waters, large swells and strong tidal waters; it’s sea kayaking heaven!
The nearest access point from The Royal an Lochan is North Bute although the hotel and Tighnabruaich are on the route to Tarbert. We’re an ideal stop off point if you want to stock up on supplies or pop in for a bite to eat or refreshments.
